So This Is What It's Like To Be Twenty-Something

Good morning!

i wasnt sure if anyone still followed me since i haven't written in here in almost a year. I've decided to let my domain expire and just blog on livejournal, and keep it more private. Here's a quick summary of what happened in my life since i wrote last February.

Karla moved out in March, and Corbin and I stayed in the apartment until june. Then we moved in with Beth into a 4-bedroom townhouse. i went to Toroonto for a month, and then my sister got married at the end of August, so I stayed with my parents for 3 weeks. Since then, i've not been doing much other than job hunting and taking Corbin to daycare five days a aweek. I got him into a facility which is about a five minute drive from here, but unfortunately about an hour each way by bus. Not to mention that I'm not close to any amenities, so I'm pretty much stranded. I guess it's a good thing Beth has decided she doesn't want to live here any more and she's going to buy a house over in Coal Harbor. I need to be self sufficient, and so i am looking at apartments in the High Field Park area close to Corbin's daycare. I am going to view one on Tuesday, but since then I have found more and I have a feeling i might not take that one, but I'll still go and look at it.

i've submitted resumes to a lot of places but haven't gotten so much as an interview. Chris has given me the contact name of a recruiter at Scotia Bank, so here's hoping something works out there.

Deedee is doing well. She really seems to have settled down workwise over the last six months. She's not having accidents in harness any more, and she seems to learn things much quicker than she used to. She did gain some weight and was up to 65 pounds because Corbin was feeding her, but I've mostly put a stop to that and she's at the high end of normal now. i'm sure once we move and start walking more, she may lose a bit more weight.

Corbin, Deedee and I are going home again for Christmas. We'll probably be home for a few weeks, but I can't keep him out of daycare too long. I'd also like to make a decision about when and where i'm going to move before I leave on the 16th of this month and start some packing.

Well, that about sums it up in a nutshell. Now I must go and clean up after my little house wrecker.

02:10 pm - Update

There really isn't much new here. i'm still playing the waiting game; &lve contaced people at Killam and Twincity properties regarding my application but have heard nothing yet. I will keep trying, but the anxiety i am experiencing is almost overwhelming. I can't put Corbin on the list for day care or seiously look for work until I know where I'll be living.

Mom is gone to Florida on vacation for a week. She left last Friday. I was a little nervous because she's always been here to offer support. Dad will help out but not to the extent Mom will. But Corbin and I have been doing fine. I don't doubt that I can do this on my own, but it's nice to have a trial period.

I bought Corbin a jolly jumper last weekend and he loves it! I usually put him in it once a day for a half hour or whenever he gets tired of it. It's great exercise. I have to keep Deedee frm bathing him as he is right on her level and she can't resist.

My friend Pam is having a birthday party for her two boys who are turning 1 and 2 this month. I bought them matching outfits and a couple of trucks to play with. my friend Vanessa is having a party Saturday night for her husband's birthday and I may go if I can find a babysitter.

Well I guess that's it. Hopefully I will hear some news soon.

Hey all,

Well my visit with Dr. Chritchley went well yesterday. I was tested for Strep B, and we also discussed pre-registerinng at the hospital and getting a tour of the birthing unit. most women would have had that done by now, but since I came onn the scene late in the game, I need to have my bloodwork done beforehand. I should get an appointment date today. Other than that, the visit was very routine and uneventful. I only gained a half a pound, woohoo! That brings my total weight gain up to 33.5 pounds. The doctor said it is also normal that i am having contractions. They are not Braxton-Hicks. They are painful, though only mildly so, and they don't last long (maybe 30 seconds), and they do not occur at regular intervals.

The best way to bring on labour is to be active, but it's been so bloody cold and snowy here that it's hard to get out for a half decent walk. i bought an exercise ball yesterday in the hopes that squatting and bouncing on it will help open up the pelvis and make things easier for the onset of labour. I also may buy some rasberry leaf tea; it will not induce labour, but will help with contractions. I have to find a health food store that sells natracare products, as any standard maternity pad could cause infection. Natracare products are all organic--no bleach, plastics or rayon--which is what I need. I also have to get a sheet to fit the cradle's mattress. It's not the size of a bassinette, but neither is it the size of a crib mattress. Other than that, everything is done. The digital camera has batteries and works, bags are packed, and the car seat is ready. I'm really impressed with myself!
